Surrender, in some contexts, can be liberating—an acknowledgment of reality, a clearing of the path forward. But what we are witnessing in Europe today is not liberation. It is humiliation. It is the spectacle of a union that once positioned itself as the global standard-bearer for sustainability now systematically gutting the very frameworks that could secure its long-term competitiveness.
